Aave (AAVE) History and Overview

Aave is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that allows users to borrow and lend cryptocurrencies, including so-called flash loans. Flash loans are the first uncollateralized loan option in the DeFi space. Aave runs on the Ethereum blockchain and is one of the biggest DeFi platforms. Aave is an open-source protocol that uses two tokens. The first type are called aTokens. These are given to lenders so they can receive interest on their deposits. AAVE tokens are the native token of Aave protocol. AAVE performs several functions being both a governance token and an exchange token that gives users discounts on fees within the Aave protocol. AAVE coins are based on the ERC-20 standard. AAVE is designed to be used on the Aave platform and can provide several benefits to its holders.

So what altcoins will I be concentrating on?

As some of you have already noticed I am a big fan of $OP Optimism.

I firmly believe that $ETH is the underdog of this cycle and will perform better than most expect.

Subsequently, scaling solutions will be needed and sought after. $OP has a very good position with the Superchain being a potential killer application/protocol allowing multiple Layer 2s to seamlessly connect and interact with each other scaling the network horizontally.

Apart from that Layer 1 solutions like $SOL, $AVAX, $NEAR, $SUI, etc. also have a lot going for them and will most likely also perform very well.

Then there are the sectors that saw crazy rallies in the past but couldn't live up to the expectations but could see a revival under more lax regulation. These include DeFi (decentralized finance) and RWA (real-world assets) tokenization.

Protocols like $AAVE, $CRV, $MKR, $ONDO, ... come to mind here.

The price action of our 2 biggest holding assets $RUNE and $AAVE continues to keep our confidence high for the type of price movements we expect from #altseason.

$AAVE is already on long-term breakout mode and has been making great protocol revenue from the market volatility.

$RUNE devs keeps coming up with deflationary updates which are sure to help not only stabilise prices but also lead to a supply shock over time.

We are happy with our portfolio and its diversification thus far, we only expect to make another rebalancing when $BTC ends its sideways price action.

Major update:

Bitwise has officially filed for an $XRP ETF with the US SEC wherein Coinbase Custody Trust will be the custodian of the tokens.

$XRP is currently our 3rd largest holding following $AAVE and $RUNE.

We believe this is a huge win for crypto and its road to mass adoption. The markets may be down now due to the war but remember that wars are temporary and the markets eventually get over such turmoil.

With that, we also submitted the monthly rebalance of BLX as per our parameters.

We added Aave ($AAVE) with a weight of 0.28%, Immutable ($IMX) with a weight of 0.32%, and Injective Protocol ($INJ) with a weight of 0.27%. Filecoin ($FIL), Cronos ($CRO), Hedera Hashgraph ($HBAR), Maker ($MKR), Cosmos ($ATOM), and Arbitrum ($ARB) have fallen out of our parameters and have been removed from the structure.

Among existing assets, $BTC and $ETH have been rebalanced to 40% and 30%, respectively. The biggest other change was reducing the weight of Solana ($SOL) by 1.24%.
