Transparent Trading Fees and 0% Spread

The problem with most platforms is that it is hard to know how much you actually pay.

You don’t necessarily get the best market price
The spread changes constantly—you can’t plan for it
You never see what you’re paying (spread + fees)
You pay more than you realize

Spread
Each time you buy or sell using a market order, you pay a spread. Make sure you know if you buy/sell using market orders (and paying spread) or other types of orders that ensure you minimize spread. What is spread? Read bellow.
Trading fees
Trading fees are charged to clients for executing a trade. They are calculated as a % of the transaction value.
Hidden fees
Yes, some financial intermediaries don’t disclose it, but they might execute client orders via additional intermediaries that take their own fees, increasing the overall costs for clients. Over time, that hidden costs compound and eat into your long-term returns.

Understanding spread and why it matters?

explaining spread
What is Spread?
In trading crypto-assets it describes the difference between the buy price and the sell price of a cryptocurrency.
Let's use an example:
Imagine you're at a currency exchange booth at the airport. You see these rates:
  • They buy for USD 1.00 = EUR 0.90
  • They sell for USD 1.00 = EUR 0.95
The difference (0.05 = 0.95 - 0.90) is the spread.

Trading Fees

fees under the hood
Trading fees are usually expressed in % and are the easiest to compare.
When comparing make sure to include the spread and potential other fees that add up to the base price in the calculation - 1% of 100 is less than 1% of 105.
If a crypto platform doesn't show you a trading fee, it’s because they don’t have to. Instead, they usually hide it in the spread or they might get a hidden fee or kickback from the intermediaries they use to execute your trades.

No spread, just trading fees at ICONOMI

ICONOMI’s trading engine only uses limit orders and advanced algorithms for buying/selling crypto assets. This ensures your orders are executed in a way you don’t pay the spread. Other brokers, on the other hand, might use “market orders” in which case you pay the full spread.
On top of that ICONOMI connects with multiple trading platforms to find the best price. We route each trade to the best trading platform based on price and other criteria to ensure best execution of all trades.
